50 Nuances d'été-Family session at Centre de la Nature

As photographers, we sometimes fall in love with a session. This is definitely one of those times. It probably has to do with how much I love these people. They are close friends who have now become some of my best customers. What makes these pictures so special is that the love they share as a family is apparent in every shot.

The setting was Centre de la nature in Laval, and we had mother nature’s full cooperation. The rain held off, and we got to enjoy the beauty of late spring.

Summer is short, and it so nice to be able to take advantage of the beautiful weather to capture special family moments.

Jours de givre-Cookies

Another weekend spent mostly indoors, with my munchkin once again recovering from a cold. However, we did try to fill it with fun activities. Baking is always fun, and a moist, hot chocolate chip cookie, fresh from the oven, always hits the spot. With the help of my little sous-chef, we filled the house with the smell of freshly baked treats.

This winter has me in a bit of a photography rut. It is harder to be inspired when you seem to be confined to the house. I will definitely be challenging myself in the next few weeks to push my creativity and make the most of the last of this seemingly neverending winter

Now go visit the talented Annick's blog, who has captured some wonderful moments during a recent family session. Have a great week!

Jours de givre-Winter day

Well, to say this winter has been tough would be an understatement. Confined to the house because -35 degree weather, ice and snowstorms, we definitely have to take advantage when the mother nature gives us a bit of a reprieve.

It may have been a cloudy, snowy day (but a balmy -15), that did not stop the kids from having a great time.

Jours de givre-Family holiday

There are many things I love about the holidays: being off work, having lots of times to take pictures, but most of all, spending time with family. This year did not disappoint, despite the cold weather that kept us indoors.

During the week, the whole family traveled to Magog for a day to my uncle's house, where we substituted outdoor activities for board games and a dance party. It was a great day, one of my favourites of the vacation, and I had fun capturing the best moments this family reunion. Here are a few of my favourites!

Countdown to Christmas

At our house, the countdown to Christmas has begun. My daughter is opening her advent calendar, we are making decorations and gifts, and of course, cookie production is in full swing!

My new challenge is an advent calendar in photos, so I will be posting a picture a day until the 25th (check out my Instagram for the daily posts).  Here the first 3 days of the challenge completed, with some bonus images, because watching my daughter decorating her cookies was the defnitely the highlight of my weekend!

For these images, I'm experimenting a bit with the editing. I used a preset (which I don't often do), to give more a film look. Still working on finding "my style", so these projects are a good opportunity to try something new.

As fall is winding down and making way for winter, changing projects is a good way to keep the creative juices flowing. Now go see how Annick began her countdown to Christmas. She is also challenging her creativity by bringing out some of her old lenses. See you next week!

Légendes d'automne-Chalet at home

Last weekend, we invited our close friends over for Brunch. What started as a midday meal turned into a whole day affair. After a delicious meal, (yes, we ate too much!) we filled the afternoon and evening with movies for the kids, some great adult conversations and board games for everyone. It felt like we were at a Chalet for the weekend, yet we were in a 2 bedroom condo in Laval!

 Another classic...Operation!

Another classic...Operation!

It was great! It seems that when you get together with close friends, there is never enough time to catch up, someone always has to run off to another engagement. I highly recommend doing this, it's a fun and relaxing day, a great time for the grown-ups and the kids!

Now go visit Geneviève's blog, the queen of sports photography. I love her speed skating shots! Have a great week!

Légendes d'automne-Fall Baking

When there is a chill in the air, what better way to warm up the house than with a little fall baking. Although I am more of a cook than a baker, I enjoy doing this activity with my daughter a lot. As an added bonus, when my picky eater participates in the food preparation, she seems to eat more. So we gathered up the ripe bananas and made some muffins.

It's a tight squeeze in my tiny kitchen, but it's always a lot of fun!

Now go visit Geneviève's post, who shows us another side to her multi-talented family. Have a great week!

Légendes d'automne- Halloween

This week was busy, (as it seems weeks always are), but made especially hectic with Halloween. Every year, the intention is to go out early for Trick or treating. The reality is that working moms have a quite the challenge getting the kids dressed, fed and ready to go on a weekday! Although the kids did not seem to mind (they had a blast), it did mean less than ideal lighting conditions for this photographer. So here a few shots that I managed to snap.
