50 Nuances d'été- Outside the comfort zone

One of the reasons I signed up for this project was to push me to take more pictures. Having a deadline to meet each week means that there are no excuses. It's so easy to get caught up in our day to day, especially when you have a full-time job, on top of starting a photography business. But being free to take the pictures I want, when I want, has pushed me to try new things, to go outside of my comfort zone.

I also knew that being part of a project with a bunch of talented photographers was going to be inspiring. Annick, one the other photographers participating in the blog circle, recently received a new Lensbaby lens (click here, to find out what it is), and it has motivated me to use mine more. I purchased my Edge 80 last year, but I have to admit that it has stayed in my camera bag too often. I have sometimes been intimidated to use it, as there is definitely a learning curve with this lens. It is completely manual, so action shots definitely add some difficulty to the mix. Nonetheless, I forced myself to use it more this week, and you can see some of the shots I managed to get below.

The first shots were taken on a warm, but unfortunately cloudy day. Siena had fun at the park, while mom snapped pictures, again!

On a much nicer day, we went to visit friends and got to enjoy the pool. My little mermaid had a blast making cannonballs, and channeling her inner Supergirl! Nothing cools you off on a hot day like a pool, and of course, some ice cream.

So there you go. The shots are not perfect, but I'm giving myself the rest of the summer to improve my technique! Now go check out the talented Anda's blogpost for week 3 of 50 shades of summer.
